Since being elected in 2021, Sheriff Sammons has worked hard on getting the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office to operate at its full capacity as the highest law enforcement agency in the County.
Some of the things that Sheriff Sammons has accomplished in just 3 short years as Sheriff are:
- Settled long-overdue contracts for Officers, Sergeants, and Department of Corrections.
- First Month in office, Sheriff Sammons created the Community Resource Unit (CRU). The Community Resource Unit focuses on building partnerships with the Residents of the County.
- Incorporated Community Policing Philosophy into all area of the sheriff's Office - Including Recruitment, Hiring and Training Officers.
- Created the Chaplain Program
- Changed the Extradition Process - which saves the County money
- Implemented Leadership Training for the Command Staff & Front-Line Supervisors
- Promoted many Investigators to Officers
- Opened more opportunities for Officers to apply for positions in Specialized Units
- Hosted the 1st Sheriff's Association of New Jersey Meeting in Gloucester County
- Sheriff Sammons promoted a change in culture of reactive to proactive measures by allowing officers to conduct motor vehicle stops, apprehend violators, and make arrests.
- Continues to grow the Project Lifesaver Program
